Religious and spiritual support

Christian chaplains are available and a team of multi-faith volunteers regularly visit the wards. You can ask staff to contact us at any time Roman Catholic Priests can be contacted on request. We can also contact representatives for most of the main faith groups on your behalf. Telephone 01905 760124. There is a Multi-Faith Prayer Room just off the main entrance. There is a service of Holy Communion every Tuesday at 11:00am. Muslim Prayers are held each Friday, 12.30pm (Winter), 2pm (Summer).

Restrictions

Only the baby’s brother and sisters may visit, no other children under the age of 16.

Hygiene and infection prevention

Gel hands on entrance to unit and wash hands at basin in each room. Gel hands before touching baby and when leaving the unit.

Neonatal unit facilities

Parent accommodation

Ben Bennett Suite - 2 bedrooms and a sitting room with TV, fridge and microwave at no cost. Parents usually stay here for a few days before baby is discharged home. If your baby is very poorly you may use these facilities.

Parent facilities

Lockers for parents’ belongings and portable DVD players are available. There are no facilities for refreshments on the Unit. Please ask staff as if the parent’s suite is unoccupied you may be able to use the facilities there.

Mobile phone use

Please do not use your phone on the Neonatal Unit.

Telephone and computer access

In an emergency parents are able to use the Unit telephone.

Breastfeeding facilities and support

Breast feeding room available with access to breast pumps, support from nurses and nursery nurses. Additional support is available from the maternity breastfeeding advisor. Free loan of breast pump.
